This is an easy to make rich chocolate cake recipe. Takes very few minutes to prepare the batter. Frost with your favourite chocolate frosting.

Ingredients :

  • 1½ cup of Maida (Plain Flour)
  • ½ cup of Cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp of Baking powder
  • ½ tsp of Baking Soda
  • 3-4 tsp of Refined Oil
  • 50 gm of Butter (At Room Temperature)
  • ½ cup of Powdered Sugar
  • ½ glass of Milk (At Room Temperature)
  • ½ tsp of Vanilla Essence.

(For Frosting)
  • 200 ml fresh Cream
  • 400 gm Dark Brown Chocolate (Or any other chocolate like Dairy Milk).

Procedure :

1. In a bowl, add Maida, Cocoa powder, Baking powder and Baking Soda. Mix all the dry ingredients properly. Now keep this aside.

2. In another large bowl, add butter, oil and powdered sugar. Whisk the mixture until it becomes smooth and creamy. Now add Vanilla essence and mix it well.

3. Let's prepare the kadhai to bake the cake. Keep a heavy bottom kadhai on low flame. Spread ½ cup of salt in the bottom. Place a wire stand in centre. Cover a lid to pre heat the kadhai for 5 to 10 min.

4. You can also make it in the oven for 20 to 25 min at 180°C. But pre heat your oven for about 5 min.

6. Now gradually add dry ingredients into mixture. Mix it slowly in one direction. Now add some milk in it, to make the smooth batter. Mix only until well combined. Don't over mix.

7. Transfer this batter into  greased cake tin. Tap for 3 to 4 times to remove bubbles. Now place this tin in kadhai on low flame and cover a lid. Let it bake for 25 to 30 min.

8. Till then let's prepare frosting. On low flame, heat the cream in a vessel. Turn off the heat and add chocolate pieces to it.. Dissolve chocolate completely. Keep it in fridge for 10 min.

9. After 25 min check the cake by inserting a toothpick. If it comes out clean, that means cake is ready. If not, leave it in kadhai for 5 to 10 min.

10. Now after 30 or 35 min, take out your tin and let it cool down completely. Take the cake out of the tin. Carefully cut into two layers.

11. Now let's start decorating the cake. Firstly, put some chocolate frosting on the surface in which cake has to be placed. Keep one layer of cake on it and spread sugar syrup (2 tsp of sugar powder + 3 tsp of water).

12. Spread a thin layer of frosting on it. Now place second layer of cake on it and spread sugar syrup. Now cover the cake all over with chocolate frosting.

13. Level the cake with the help of a spatula, knife or a flat cardboard. Fill the remaining frosting in a piping bag and make different designs on it.

14.  At last, sprinkle some grated chocolate over it and keep it in fridge for 1 to 2 hours. Delicious, soft and spongy cake is ready. You can also decorate it with dry fruits, gems or anything of your choice. Enjoy!!
